Pakistan's Cybersecurity Revolution: A Bold Move for a Digital Future

Under the World Bank-backed Digital Economy Enhancement Project (DEEP), valued at a substantial $77.73 million, Pakistan is modernizing its national cybersecurity framework. But here's where it gets controversial... the government is not just updating policies; it's overhauling the entire system!
The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT) has issued a call for international consulting firms to assess Pakistan's cybersecurity infrastructure and sectoral preparedness. The chosen firm will conduct an in-depth analysis of existing systems, identifying weaknesses in legal frameworks, institutions, human resources, and technical capabilities across government bodies, critical information infrastructures, and private entities.
And this is the part most people miss... the assessment will focus on key sectors like finance, energy, healthcare, IT, and telecommunications, ensuring a holistic approach to cybersecurity.
One of the project's major goals is to revise Pakistan's National Cyber Security Policy/Strategy (2021).
