After closing its doors in May for some major upgrades, the Regent Theatre is now shining brighter than ever. The venue has not only welcomed back its loyal audiences but has also shattered its own box office records with the ongoing Cinderella pantomime.

Jane Riley, the portfolio holder for culture and customers at Ipswich Borough Council, couldn't be happier. She exclaimed, "We're thrilled that our ambitious plans have come to fruition! This project has not only modernized the theatre but has also restored its iconic Art Deco features, making it a true cultural gem."
Cinderella, the perfect production to celebrate the Regent's rebirth, has been a hit with audiences. From the moment the curtains went up, the energy in the theatre has been electric. Audiences are raving about the new front-of-house facilities and the talented cast that brings the show to life.
Built in 1929 as an Art Deco cine-variety theatre, the Regent has been a beloved cultural landmark in Suffolk for generations. The refurbishment, which began earlier this year, was a labor of love. Shows were temporarily relocated to the Corn Exchange to accommodate the extensive work.
The transformation was completed in November, and the building was proudly handed back to the theatre team. The upgrades are impressive, including a restored Art Deco frontage, a renovated foyer and ceiling, new bars, an improved Circle Lounge, and enhanced accessibility with a lift.
KLH Architects led the restoration, bringing hidden historic features back to life and adding modern touches to enhance the user experience. Stuart Edgar, director at KLH, shared his pride in the project, saying, "This venue holds fond memories for many of our staff, and we're honored to have played a part in its restoration."
