Her international breakthrough came with the 1997 Hollywood thriller 'Inferno,' marking her first appearance in an international film. Despite her rising stardom, Deepti always felt a pull towards a more peaceful and balanced life. She decided to step away from acting, even though she was trained by the legendary Shah Rukh Khan for a screen test. She also worked with Aamir Khan and Manisha Koirala in the 1999 film 'Mann' and shared the screen with Salman Khan in the 2001 film 'Chori Chori Chupke Chupke.' However, her true passion lay in travel and adventure. In 2001, she made a bold career shift by launching her own TV production company, producing travel shows like 'Yatra' and 'Musafir Hoon Yaaron.' During this time, she traveled to nearly 90 countries, often with her family, and even gave birth to her two sons while hosting these shows.
